Casual Group Ride – Whenuapai/Herald Island, Saturday 16th May

May 8, 2015

A lot of people contact BFNS seeking safe routes to ride and nice folks to ride them with. I can point them in the direction of some friendly cycling locations, but am no help whatsoever with the riding-pals side of things – too much of a loner!

You see most group rides, especially the road groups, are all about speed. They’ll wait for stragglers (the infamous no-drop policy), but it’s never that quiet-cruise-in-the-country a lot of us crave.

Well if you’re looking for a casual group to ride with, we may have just the thing…

Whenuapai Group Ride

Ride what ya brung!

On Saturday 16th May (9am start) a group of like-minded cyclists will be doing a casual ride around Whenuapai Village with the option of carrying on for a Herald Island loop. Approximate distance will be 20kms (with no nasty hills) and the option to do more/less as fitness dictates.

If anyone is interested in a Casual and Fun push bike ride come join us. Plenty of parking across the road from the Whenuapai Village Shops.

Talk to organiser Sue Denham on 021 0367234 if you have any queries.

We plan to meet some Saturdays and some Thursday mornings and alternate rides in gorgeous spots like Devonport, Orewa & Silverdale. Once a month we will also enjoy various cycle trails around our lovely country. All welcome!

  • When: Saturday 16th May at 9:00am
  • Where: Starts at Whenuapai Village Shops
  • The Route: A gentle ramble around Whenuapai Village and Herald Island
  • FaceBook Details

Thanks to Cycle Action Auckland and Bike Devonport for the heads-up.
