Signs go up on Share-with-Care path.

July 16, 2010

Another installment in the East Coast Road Share-with-Care path series®…

The corner of Sunset and East Coast Roads. New safety-fencing in the background.

After an initial burst of activity when most of the construction was done the finishing touches are taking an age to complete. The path crosses several streets and recently signage was erected to alert motorists to the fact a cyclist may very well be crossing their path. This is a good idea as some of the “crossings” are partially hidden around corners. I would also like to see painted bike-crossing “lanes” in blue or green so it is really obvious to approaching vehicles what is happening. A bit like a zebra-crossing for bikes, but in solid paint like some bike-lanes.

I enjoy reading about your share-with-care path adventures and have been directing people at the council to your observations and commentry. Keep it up :)

Thanks for the encouragement Rosie and nice to know somebody local is reading it. I get a lot of hits but the majority are from overseas, not really the point of the blog!
