The Heart Swells

June 12, 2010

Looking very pleased with herself.

It’s a great feeling learning to ride a bike and equally rewarding for a parent as you watch your offspring wobble off down the road. The Midget Assassin is the youngest member of the family (just turned four) and hence the last to acquire this life-skill. We had a false start this summer when the training-wheels were removed but little Miss wasn’t too impressed with a wobbling steed and they were quickly replaced to quell the unrest.

This time I persevered longer as her velocities in a straight line had greatly overtaken the ability of a bike with training-wheels to get around a corner. Two-wheelers also cope better with uneven surfaces opening up opportunities for riding with the family.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, it’s always more fun on a bike!
