Share with Care Path Officially Open

April 10, 2010

NSC Share with Care

From the Council’s website:

“The new shared cycle path and footpath along East Coast Road from Constellation Drive to Forrest Hill Road is now ready to use. The path connects the three existing cycle paths along Constellation Drive, Forrest Hill Road and East Coast Road and makes it easier and safer for pedestrians and cyclists to get around.”

And this is the best bit:

“During the month of April we’re holding a cycle promotion to encourage people to get on their bikes and try out the new path.

Anyone that cycles along the path from 8 April to 8 May can be in the draw to win a $200 bike shop voucher and other prizes. All you need to do is show your helmet at the Sunnynook Dairy or Gulf Takeaways at 318 East Coast Road, fill in a form and pop your entry into the box provided. The competition closes on 8 May and the winners will be drawn and announced the following week.”

I’m using the path every night now coming home from work. It’s a little slower that riding on the road but it’s so relaxing being separated from the traffic and I haven’t had one bottle thrown at me yet!

If you would all be so kind as to “not” enter the competition I would appreciate it as I could really do with that $200 voucher ;^)

You North Shore kids have all the best comps. I was mighty jealous of the free-coffee-because-you’re-cycling-to-work initiative during BikeWise month too.

Once they let people cycle over the Harbour Bridge, I might move over :P
