Thanks for the great write ups! Very informative. I live in East Auckland, Botany however and have just started bringing my 7yr old on the bike. Is there any similar blog sites for tracks around our area? Any info you can provide would be useful.

I don’t know of any similar blogs Jeremy but check the Council’s (and Auckland Transport’s?) websites – I’ve seen a list of mountainbike parks in there somewhere.

The foreshore path heading east from the old Mangere Bridge would be good for your child. It is dead flat and goes through the cemetery which kids normally enjoy.

They’ll like the people fishing off the bridge too.

great selection of rides, tried long bay this weekend and its a great ride for off road novices too. the 2 year old and I find that ngataringa (sp?) park, memorial drive, devenport is well worth it as an alternative to onepoto bike park, He can readily get around the paths on his balance bike, and its a bit more interesting really.

      Thanks Chris

I’m in the process of writing-up the Devonport Green Route which passes through Ngataringa Park, that’s great your boy can scoot along the gravel paths on a balance bike.

I’ve also taken the kids out to the new cycleway in Orewa, pictures to come…

Thank you so much, was that you on the beach this morning? The weather was so nice I just wanted to keep riding, but the children can only be abandoned for so long ;^)
