Auckland Transport Summer Cycle Event Guide

February 1, 2012

Now that the Christmas madness is behind us it’s time to get out on that bike and forget the pain of returning to work or school.

Auckland Transport has published a summer cycling guide full of fun events on two wheels for Aucklanders. There’s loads of stuff to do, and a lot of it is aimed at families, beginners and the “casual” recreational riders amongst us.

Details of the Summer Cycling Programme are available here and you can download a PDF of the Event Guide (5MB) for future reference.

Highlights include the return of Cycle Style – a spectacular night of glitz & glamour, a Family Bike Day in funky Wynyard Quarter and the West Bike Fest.

Here on the Shore they have details of the Go by Bike Breakfasts, Beginner Bike Sessions for adults, Bunch-Riding skill sessions, the fabulous Family Bike Evenings at Sunnynook and five Bike To Work Wednesdays where you can score a free coffee! There’s too much on to list here, download the guide and check it out.

The sheer number of things happening in the next couple of months is very encouraging. Road cycling, mountainbiking, BMX – I love them all, but everyday folks just getting out on their bikes with friends or family is what Bike Friendly North Shore is all about. Bring it on!
